Credits/Certificates

This course has been accredited by the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) to two (2) credits towards Gold Seal Certification upon successful completion of this course. A final mark of 75% is required in order to receive a certificate of completion.

Objectives

This course will provide managers with the tools to help them:
  • Define a conflict
  • Identify the stages of conflict
  • Understand the importance of communication
  • Use assertiveness techniques to get their point across
  • Deal with difficult people more effectively
  • Recognize the criteria for an effective negotiator
  • Understand how power can be used/abused in negotiation
  • Identify when to close negotiations

Structure and Workload

This course consists of 5 lessons of approximately 45 minutes duration each, for a total of about 4 hours of self-paced instruction.
